Visit Sirmione and the historic center

Discover Sirmione, the pearl of Lake Garda

Sirmione has made people fall in love from everywhere and in all historical periods, such as the famous Latin poet Gaius Valerio Catullo or the famous opera singer Maria Callas.

Sirmione is a romantic town, set in the splendid setting of Lake Garda, rich in history, nature and tradition.

Its most characteristic symbol is undoubtedly the Scaligero castle, one of the many built in the Middle Ages by the powerful Veronese family, which can now be visited in its entirety. From the main tower you can enjoy a 360 ° view of the entire Lake Garda.

It is absolutely advisable to visit the Grotte di Catullo, the remains of one of the best preserved Roman villas in northern Italy. The archaeological site is located at the tip of the peninsula and there is also a museum dedicated to the prehistory of Lake Garda.

Walking among the olive trees you can meet places of unique beauty, such as the church of San Pietro in Mavino, a place of absolute peace where the only sound you will hear is the chirping of birds. Inside the church you can also admire beautiful frescoes from the fourteenth century.

Finally, after so much wandering, you can relax on one of the many beaches that Sirmione has to offer. The most famous is undoubtedly Jamaica Beach, at the foot of the Grotte di Catullo. The beach is made up of a lawn and white stone slabs that emerge from the lake, and the absence of sand makes the water really fresh and clean also due to the presence of the thermal waters that flow naturally.
